so you have the best of both worlds with superb economy(easily over 50mpg) coupled with a very high spec.I have been a specialist in Citroen`s for more years than i care to think of so know these cars very well so can offer an honest and in my opinion accurate description.These are great cars and i even organise and judge the shows for them as they now reach classic car age and status.Normally these cars make top dollar but as you can see it has a damaged rear door so is a chance for an affordable car that can easily be improved.There is every possibility you will find a silver door on ebay.It will also want the sill painting below that door as we had just wanted to get it mot`d so only did an adequate welding repair .Also inside that door shut which whilst not rotten it is scabby and may as well be tended to and painted whilst the sill is done.Of course there are others bits and bobs around the body such as minor scuffs,dings and scratches -it is of course 13 years old and done 156,000 miles.The interior is very comfy and stood the test well.It has a wealth of electric toys such as electric windows,electric sunroof (as well as aircon),electric and heated seats,central locking,radio cassette with steering wheel controls ,electric mirrors and all of these items seem to work fine.It has a cd changer in the boot but i can not find the cartridge for it.There are no warning lights on.It also has a tow bar which is handy.Being the Exclusive model it is of course 110bhp which is very noticeable as opposed to driving the lesser models which are 90bhp.The car comes with spare key,all handbooks and service book with 8 stamps up to 87k.It would be pretty silly to think it has not been serviced since then and most likely the book has not been stamped(the majority of garages do not even know where a Xantia hand book pack is kept!) or it has been serviced for cash with no invoice.Original owner in the service book was Citroen U.K.It starts excellently and has a very sweet engine,these hdi engines just seem to run and run.The ride is very smooth and on the suspension side i would just say the rear height corrector may be a bit sticky (neither dear or hard to do if you felt the need).Unusually the car is actually registered to me as i needed a hack for a month and have timed the auction to finish when i will be finished with the car.I have taxed it for a year for my usage which is NOT included in the sale but the buyer can buy the remaining 11 months at the pro rata surrender value.All in all an honest usable example of what is a highly desirable model within Xantia circles.It could be used as is or improved then used and should even then be sold for a profit!Viewing is welcome before you bid as you bid to buy not to reserve the right to view first.It is a no reserve auction and will run to the end.I do expect swift contact from the winning bidder or i will have no hesitation in offering it to the under bidder.I can collect the winning bidder from the local train station in March or arrange reliable delivery. | Right; this one’s a bit special - and I know that because for the past three months I’ve used it as my personal everyday car, covering 4000 miles in the process, and it’s for sale now only because personal circumstances (Mum’s moving house at the end of the month for the first time since 1958…) mean I need a full-size estate car for the next few months. | It’s had just two registered keepers from new; ING Leasing for the first three years then one private owner since November 2009. Mileage - which I’ll warrant as correct - has just turned 92,000, and the car comes with an Mot to February 20 2014 - I make that 8½ months - with no advisories. All four tyres were renewed in February, the car has a good service history, and, perhaps most interesting of all these days, I’ve averaged 45.6mpg in my ownership! | Anyway, this one REALLY has got all the sought-after and desirable kit - it’s the range-topping exclusive model and on top of that it’s got several very desirable and sought-after extras. The three most significant of these are satellite navigation, a built-in telephone (just put a SIM card in to make it work) and the six-speed manual transmission. Anyway, here’s the full list - and please remember by no means was all this standard, even on the Exclusive… | Satellite Navigation system | Built-in telephone | Full leather trim | Dual-zone climate control - working and blowing lovely and cold! | Premium quality sound system with finger-tip controls and six-disc CD autochanger | Onboard fuel/economy distance computer | Heated front seats with three heat settings | Electric front seat adjustment | Electronic Stability programme (ESP) | Roll-up sunblinds in rear doors and tailgate | Alloy wheels | Electric door mirrors with fold-in function | Driver, passenger and side airbags | Front and rear foglights | Towbar with (untested) electrics | Electric windows all round | Remote central locking | Six-speed manual transmission - I`m told this is quite rare and very sought-after | On top of that, you’ve also got the superb Citroen Hydractive III suspension - a superb system that gives the C5 the best ride of any car in its class, and with a choice of sports on normal ride and, of course of ride heights. Contrary to popular belief, this system is also extremely reliable, and it goes without saying that it’s in full working order on this car. | You’ve also got the traditional Citroen ‘see round corners’ headlights, though the control is now a bit more sophisticated than the old ‘bowden cable attached to a steering arm’ arrangement used on the DS and CX!! | History-wise, these cars have long (20,000 mile) service intervals and the book lists four at 20,448 (19.7.06), 40,578 (13.9.07), 59,694 (12.11.08) and 77,481 (29.10.10). Timing belt interval is 100,000 miles by the way. The car also comes with a complete book pack, plus two keys/remotes. | Bodily, I’d say this car is very good indeed for the age; it looks good and the colour really suits it. There are no nasty knocks or bangs, and while a car of this age is bound, in absolute terms, to have a few stone chips, the only marks of any real consequence are a bit of light scratching on the offside rear wheelarch - see photo - and note there’s no denting or other damage - plus one small area (about 5in X 2in) on the back bumper where the clear lacquer coat has lifted. Other than that, I’d consider it an excellent example.. | Interior I’d consider to be excellent; clean and tidy all-through, unused ashtrays and cigarette lighters and no excess wear and tear anywhere; the leather seats are particularly good. The only fault I’ve noticed - and given that all three C5s I’ve owned have been the same I reckon it must be common - is that the driver’s armrest doesn’t always lock in the down position; hardly a massive issue. | The car seems all-good mechanically; as I say I’ve used it as my everyday car since the end of January, and in that time it’s done numerous long journeys - often 3-400 miles at a time. It starts easily, runs and drives extremely well, all warning lights go on and off as they should (watch out for this - dash warning lights are now an Mot failure) and it really is an exceptionally smooth, comfortable and refined car to drive in. It’s economical too - as I mentioned at the start, I’ve averaged 45.6mpg according to the onboard computer, and by no means has this car been used only for long runs! | The only issue I will mention is that the clutch, though totally serviceable and not slipping, is biting a little high; it’s been the same all the time I’ve had the car. It doesn’t need doing now (if it did, I’d have done it) but I would recommend budgeting for a new one some time in the next year or so; it’s not especially difficult - no, it’s not an engine-out job!!!! - and I have allowed for the fact that this might need doing in the price. | So to sum up.. Well it’s the right model and it’s certainly got all the sought-after specification; these cars just don’t come up that often with all this kit, and when they do they’ve generally been to the moon and back! This one, though, has very sensible miles - under 12,000 a year - good history and a lovely long Mot. | And really, there’s not much more I can say, other than to suggest you compare my price with what others are asking for 55 plate Exclusives, which haven’t got the same kit as this one.. | Check me out too - I’ve now been selling cars on ebay for OVER TEN YEARS. What’s more, I’ve kept the same Peterincambs ID for all that time - people who change regularly may have something to hide, and I think my feedback in that time speaks for itself; look back and see for yourself.
